I was bored so I thought I would take Kim's suggestion and run with it. I am going to attempt to document all my fragging techniques for those that are more mentally challenged than me. (let me just say there aint many dumber than me in th eworld)


First item up for cutting is a Sarcophyton (sp.) or green toadstool leather.


First I take a sharp razor (always a new one to ensure a clean cut every time) and cut the top off in a ring leaving the center intact.





Then cut the donut into smaller pieces. I have found that I have the best results with pieces 1" or bigger but have had smaller pieces survive.





Make sure you place the fresh cut pieces in tank water to rinse most of the slime off. You dont want chemical warfare going on in your tank. Might be a good idea to run GAC (granular activated carbon) for a couple of days while they are healing.

There are two methods that I use but I really prefer the second one. The first is using a plastic toothpick and a loose rubberband to hold the frag to a piece of LR until it attachs



The second (and prefferred) method is using a bowl with a few holes in it for circulation. This allows them to attach wherever they want. Place LR rubble in bottom and seal whole thing with pantyhose.




After 1 week the frags will have attached themselves to the rubble and you can then easily superglue the rubble to larged piecesof LR




Here is the parent coral after 1 week. It is already growing new polyps at the incision site.



Here are the frags after 6 weeks. About 3 times the size and able to be fragged again

Piece of cake..The trick is to use as thin a cutoff wheel as you can and cut real straight. you cant hurt it much
