Ok drip acclimation is not a way I am familiar with. I usually do the float method and remove and add water into the bag until its ready.
so with the small bowls.. Sas Can you help walk me through this?? Blame it on my morning lack of caffeen or ignorance. ![]() I just dont wanna screw it up!!

I use airline tubing, tie a loose knot in it and adjust flow by tightening or loosening it, 1 drop every 5 seconds or so, let the overflow go to waste, depending on animal 1 or 2 hrs is pretty good

Gotcha... I opened the container and emptied the water out to just cover them. OMG THE SMELL!!! looks like 2 or so animals in the bowl. not wanting to disturb much. yet. I'll be back and thanks for explaining it so simply!!
In the mean time, here are some shots. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I was just nervous...

if its really ugly try straining the water(what it came in) thru a coffee filter? temp is important so try to keep it stable (are you trying to say Im usually a windbag?)

Not at all! What Im saying is its my ability to understand things, and you made it so simple!! Thats what I wanted and needed. I was afraid after I asked that you were gonna roll your eyes at me(yea I saw it) and send the info from a publication that makes it difficult for me to comprehend sometimes.
I like the Reefing for dummies way!! and you Nailed it!! are there already threads on here for proper acclimation? I couldnt find them. Ive really been meaning to learn the drip method. Thanks SAS... I also used a baster method, where we pull one baster of water out and add 1 baster in. Is that to fast of a water difference? im not doing that way on these though.

I really never roll my eyes lol, acclimation is like everything else, everybody's got a way, usually from the lfs to the tank for me with the exception of anem's and clams their more fussy, shipped stuff is more critical, there are ph changes, oxygenation, salinity etc, with the drip you lose some water thats about it

Hm. I wonder what's in the nasty bowl.
With things that look in trouble, and are in nasty water, I've read it's more important to get it out of nasty water and into good, so it's better to speed up the process to do that. If you're used to the baster method, that will work with these little containers, too. Just work with smaller amounts. Voila! |
