As Matt said, they are very good algae eaters and normally go unseen on the rocks. I have a bunch of them in all of my tanks, but usually only notice them when they decide to cruise along on the glass. If it came from me that is cool, but I must admit I did not send it on purpose.
Those cream colored asterina stars should hang out on your glass most of the time and help with the bio film that forms there.
