I thought I would share some things that have been going on in Akwar'eum lately. First I will post the latest FTS...


Specs of the system for those that don't know are DT 375g, 96x30x30 acrylic (don't ever EVER buy acrylic!), 100g sump (rubbermaid tub), ATS (made from vinyl gutter),

refugium #1 =55g with crushed coral base, minimal LR, various algaes including Chaeto, two serpent stars and several crabs and snails,...


refugium #2=seagrass tank with 6" bed of carib-sea mineral mud and aragonite sand with turtle grass and manatee grass and several astrea snails...


refugium #3= mangrove tank...


the new stuff I was talking about are that I now have seagrass in my seagrass tank. It has been maturing for six months and I got grass for Christmas.

The mangrove tank is also relatively new and is made out of the lids that came with the DT. I wasn't using them so I made another tank with them.

Those are two different Elegance corals. The one close to the front is a relatively new guy (birthday present) and the one at the back of the tank is the one I have had for two years but suffered in the move and "lost" it's tentacles. That photo is from tonight and they are coming back very nicely.

I am enjoying this project more than I ever thought I would. Who knew I would like taking care of plants. Gail can't get me to give her plants the time of day, but I can mist and prune my mangroves for an hour without noticing the time. I am having lots of fun!
